Brief info

Dr. Surajudeen-Bakinde is an Associate Professor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering in the University of Ilorin, a position she has attained since 2018. She is a native of Offa in Kwara State who attended Offa Grammar School for her Secondary Education and finished in 1990. She proceeded to the University of Ilorin where she obtained her B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering in 1998 and 2004 respectively. She attended the University of Liverpool in United Kingdom where she obtained her Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Electrical Engineering and Electronics in 2010. Her Ph.D. in Liverpool University, UK, was sponsored by Commonwealth Academic Staff Scholarship between 2005 to 2010.

In addition to her academic qualifications, she also has many professional qualifications, including

Dr. Nazmat has many ongoing and completed research projects, all of which are funded through
grants. They include: Tertiary Education Trust fund (TETFund) Institutional Based Research
Project titled “ICT enabled model for Al-Majiri Education in Nigeria”; SPHEIR (Strategic
Partnerships for Higher Education Innovation and Reform), a Consortium Project of Eleven
Universities across Africa titled “The African University Faculty Accelerator: Training the next
generation faculty”; Senate Research Grant titled Development of Terrain-Aware Model for
Prediction of Path- Loss in the VHF and UHF bands in Nigeria; TETFund Research Grant titled
“Development of appropriate spectrum access model for disaster relief and public safety services
using the TV white space”; ETF Research Grant titled “TV White Space Utilization for Disaster
Relief Communication Networks in Nigeria”.

She has 65 peer-review publications to her credit, including technical reports, Chapters in books;
edited conference proceedings, and full-length articles in home-based, national, and international
journals. She has supervised 7 M.Sc. thesis to completion, and currently supervising 2 M.Sc. and
2 Ph.D. theses.

She has rendered many community services. She is happily married and blessed with children.
