ENetSuD accuses Kwara Government of padding school contract with ₦29m

The Elites Network for Sustainable Development (ENetSuD), has accused the Kwara State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development of padding the contract of Ilorin Grammar School (IGS) project with a total sum of ₦29,046,836.43.
The anti-corruption Civil Society Organisation (CSO) reputed for promoting good governance, transparency and accountability, made this known on Monday in Ilorin in a statement by its Press Secretary, Saeed Tijjani.
The statement explained that ENetSuD re-examined the Bill of Quantity (BoQ) of the project and noted some irrelevant items were padded into the BoQ to inflate the contract sum by ₦29,046,836.43.
The anti-corruption body added that the ₦29,046,836.43 inflation is just for the contract sum, while a physical assessment of the project executed on the site is yet to be carried out to determine if the works have been executed according to specification by the contractor.
ENetSuD noted that the contract sum on the BoQ approved by the Ministry is ₦185,770,015.78.
However, re-calculation by ENetSuD reveals that the correct contract sum ought to have been ₦156,723,179.35.
ENetSuD however, adviced the Ministry of Education to do the needful as soon as possible.
