ILORIN AIRPORT: MINISTER REPLIES ENetSuD, ACCOUNTS FOR 2018 BUDGET EXECUTION

The Federal Ministry of Transportation has replied the Freedom of Information (FOI) request made by Elites Network for Sustainable Development (ENetSuD) on the 2018 Capital Projects execution status in Kwara State. It will be recalled that ENetSuD wrote the Ministry on 8th April, 2019 via a letter ENetSuD/FOI/2018/FGP/01/11 to ask for financial and technical details of Rehabilitation of Terminal Building, Construction of Retail Shops for Concessionaries, Procurement and Installation of Conveyor Belt, and Rehabilitation of Hajj Terminal captured in the 2018 budget of Federal Government . The Minister of Transportation, (through a letter referenced MCA 0136/S.1/T15A/141, dated 27th May, 2019 and signed by Bello Alkali, Deputy Director of Procurement), provided the information requested by ENetSuD.

 

In the response, the Minister explained that the contract sum for the Rehabilitation of Terminal Building contracted to Archivisual Solution Ltd is ₦431,642,531.25, and added that ₦8,885,061.00 was budgeted for the project in 2018 but nothing was released or spent from the budgeted amount in that year, even though the project has been completed.

 

On the Construction of Retail Shops for Concessionaires contracted to Pinnatech Nigeria Ltd, he disclosed the contract sum as ₦253,690,000.00, and added that ₦103,000,000 was budgeted for the project in 2018, out of which ₦67,442,014.75 was released to and spent by the Ministry, making it to be 35% completed.

 

On Procurement and Installation of Conveyor Belt contracted to Ogbosite International Nig. Ltd., he said the contract sum was ₦730,788,552.90 but out of ₦111,411,514.00 budgeted in 2018, nothing was released to or spent by the Ministry even though the project has been completed.

 

Finally, he said the contract sum for Rehabilitation of Hajj Terminal contracted to ARDC Nig. Ltd. was ₦450,000,000, and that out of ₦250,000,000 budgeted in 2018, nothing was also released to or spent by the Ministry even though the project has been completed.

 

While ENetSuD appreciates the response of the Ministry in compliance with the provisions of FOI Act, the information provided and the projects execution status will be tracked by ENetSuD.
